AF: Hi Memphis. Where are you?
M: I’m in Louisville (Kentucky)
AF: Is that where you were born?
M: No. I was born in Louisiana.
AF: Do you still have family there? Did they do badly in the hurricane last year?
M: My Grandma still lives there. She lost a lot of stuff. And I had some other family members who did also. But my Grandma is still in her house so she was one of the lucky ones.
AF: Yeah I guess so. I mean when they were showing it on TV it was hard to believe that it was the US and not a third world country. So you were born and raised there?
M: I lived half my life in Louisiana and half in Kentucky.
AF: I heard you were a southern girl, but I don’t hear any accent. There is no twang going on!
M: No. I don’t have too much.
AF: How did you manage that?
M: I don’t know. I guess just moving around a lot. I just recently moved back to Kentucky. I’ve been here for three months now. I lived in LA and Vegas so I guess I lost my accent a little bit.
AF: Do you say “LIKE” all the time?
M: Yeah.
AF: Like I moved to LA and then like I lived in Vegas, and now like I am living in Kentucky and it’s like really, really nice here.
M: (Laughs) Yeah.
AF: The other big LA words are totally, absolutely and exactly. Sometimes I have to go through an interview and take those three and “like” and change them or cut them down in an interview. I do so many interviews with LA people that I have to take my own “likes” out of the interviews! But you just have a cute little voice. I don’t hear any accent at all. But I bet your family talks with an accent.
M: Oh yeah, they all sound like they are from New York because some parts of Louisiana you get that Cajun accent. My Mom and the rest of my family all talk like that, but I don’t.
AF: Cajun is a cool accent. Whenever I have heard it, I had no idea what kind of accent it is because it is so different. Were you raised in a big city or the country where there was lots of wild life?
M: I pretty much lived in the country. There was only one high school there.
AF: So were you popular in high school?
M: I really wasn’t. I am kind of a quiet shy type of girl.
AF: (Laughs) I can tell by watching your movies.
M: Well back then. I didn’t really talk to too many people because I thought that they wouldn’t like me. And because I didn’t talk to anyone, I had a lot of things said about me. Now I am popular!
AF: Yes you are!!!! What is funny is that most stars that I talk too weren’t popular in high school. They all say that they bloomed afterward.
M: That is how I was.
AF: Did you have a lot of boyfriends in high school?
M: No. I only had one or two. I always had a serious relationship. Anytime I would date someone it would be for a year or two years. All the boys liked me, but all the girls hated me in high school. That’s just how it went.
AF: Do you find that still now?
M: You know what? When I go out now, I have more girls that come up to me then guys do. Guys sit and smile and gawk. Girls come up and say, “You’re so pretty. I love you!” It’s crazy.
AF: I know you wouldn’t know this, because you are too young, but five years ago that wouldn’t have happened. So much has changed. It’s just in the last few years that late teens, early twenties girls are watching lots of X-rated movies. That girls are fans of female porn stars. Ten years ago, the only real girl fans of female stars were lesbians. But now it’s a cool thing to know who porn stars are. They are growing up way earlier these days, and then the mainstream crossover affects it also. You were modeling for awhile before you took the big step.
M: I was a model for about five years before I started porn. I used to work at Hooters.
AF: I know! We have to talk about that. I wish I had a picture of you in your Hooters uniform. Every guy you ever waited on is going to see your picture now that you are a star and be like, Oh my God, she brought my chicken wings! Hooters would probably like to have you back right now to put you in a uniform and take some pictures of you for the side of a bus, or a bunch of billboards. Do you like the chicken wings?
M: I liked the wings without the breading. They call them naked.
AF: They are really good there. What is your favorite food?
M: Anything fried.
AF: No one would ever know it. That’s not fair! So you eat it and it disappears?
M: It goes straight to my ass and my tits.
AF: That’s really too bad, isn’t it! Twenty years from now you are going to pay for that, you know right?
M: I know, that’s what friends tell me, they say, “You just wait!”
AF: So fried fish, French fries, mozzarella sticks…
M: I love fried chicken and mashed potatoes and gravy. The true Southern cooking, you just stick it in front of my face and I just couldn’t turn it away.
AF: Do you like fried alligator?
M: The first time I tried it I hated it. I thought it was disgusting. Everyone said it tastes like chicken. I said that does not taste like chicken. But I just tried it again about two months ago and I actually liked it. It was pretty good. I think it depends on who cooks it.
AF: Do you like fish?
M: Uh huh.
AF: Because when I tried it, to me it tasted like chicken and fish mixed together. It had that fishy taste. And then it was really chewy like pencil erasers. So I didn’t like it.
M: The first time I had it, it was chewy like that. The second time it was tender and it was good.
AF: I like alligators when they are alive personally. I think they are cool. I love seeing them in the wild.
M: Our town had a pet alligator. In the middle of the city they had it in a big cage. It was like a tourist attraction. You could go up to it and see it. I know it wound up dying but they just replaced it and put another alligator in there.
AF: I wouldn’t think anyone would know the difference. So you like alligators?
M: Yeah. I think they are cool. I am not going to go up to one or anything though.
AF: So how did you go from Hooters to X-rated star?
M: Well actually Hooters and I, I kinda got fired a little bit.
AF: (Laughs) How do you get fired a little bit?
M: I used to model for this panty hose addict website. I worked with them for about two years. I was working at Hooters then as a hostess. The website wanted me to model in a Hooters uniform and that’s a big no-no. You cannot model in a Hooter’s uniform outside of the restaurant or one of their promotional events. But it wasn’t even my uniform and they put me in it, and I did a photoset for the website that started out in the Hooter’s uniform and then I slowly took my clothes off. Well someone told Hooters, they found it and reported me. And then Hooters had this big long discussion with me where they said “We are going to have to let you go.” I was like, “Are you kidding?” Because this was two years later, down the road that they found out about the modeling.
AF: So it is all Hooters fault that you went into porn!
M: Yeah, pretty much. Because I was jobless. I loved modeling and I got contacted by an agent out in LA. I was curious about how the whole adult thing worked.
AF: So how did you get into adult? How did you end up with Hustler?
M: The first month I was in the business, Hustler booked me for their magazine. So I did a shoot. About two months later I found out that I made the cover.
AF: You must have been really excited!
M: Well Hustler called and left a message that they wanted to talk to me. I was thinking, oh, maybe I got the centerfold! And when they told me I got the cover I was so excited! I called everyone and said, “You are never going to believe this!”
AF: Just think of all those guys in high school who are going to wish they had dated you!
M: I get so many e-mails on myspace that say “Do you remember me?”
AF: You should say, nope, sorry! So did you get to meet Larry?
M: I was on the December cover. It came out in November and about a month before it came out Hustler called and asked me to come in and talk to them about a possible contract. So that is when I went in and actually met with Larry. He is really nice. I was so nervous when I first went in there. His office is huge. He has this huge desk and you are sitting on the other side. He is so down to earth and funny. So we laughed and joked around. I love him.
AF: To me he is a freedom fighter and a hero. I would rather meet him in a minute then any huge movie star. So I can imagine, sitting there looking at him, thinking, Oh my God that is Larry Flynt right in front of me.
M: Yeah. I watched the People Vs Larry Flynt just about six month before that, and there I was in his office. I was shaking. I didn’t want to say anything wrong. It was definitely a surreal moment.
AF: That is exactly the word I was going to use, surreal. So how many movies have you done for Hustler so far?
M: Seven. My favorite one so far is Aphrodisiac. I just shot it. It is my first big feature and I got to be in costume and I had lines. I actually got to portray and perform like a certain character. I got to become someone besides me, like I would have done in a regular gonzo. It was definitely a lot of fun. It was a four-day shoot. We shot some in the desert, and some in the studio on the sets. The sets were huge and beautiful. It is Hustler’s biggest budget movie to date.
AF: I know a bit about that movie because my friend Jerry Tanner was the director.
M: It’s funny, on set he yells at everyone. But during my scenes he didn’t yell one bit. He was really nice to me. We really get along well. I just worked with him again on my next feature film Christmas in Memphis which will be out in December. It’s really funny.
AF: So you know his wife Helen too. I adore them.
M: I love Helen. They are so cute together.
AF: They are really good friends of mine and like parents! I want to do a story on Aphrodisiac too when it comes out. What is the best sex you’ve had ?
M: I worked with Manuel Fererra in “Cum Stained Casting Couches” for Red Light District. That was the first time I squirted ever in a film.
AF: On purpose?
M: No. Manuel said he was going to make me, and I said that I couldn’t do it. Then I am looking and thinking, am I really squirting? It was real.
AF: What is your favorite sex scene in a Hustler movie?
M: Jean Val Jean had a really good sex scene in Larry’s Angels. I was an ice cream girl and it was a really hot scene. It was really rough and lots of hair pulling and choking.
AF: Too bad you didn’t have real ice cream that you could put all over you.
M: I know, that would have been hot.
AF: Or if you were shooting in a real ice cream shop and you could eat all the ice cream.
M: I would be like 300 pounds. I would just have a taste of this one, and that one, and that one….
AF: Where is the wildest place you ever had sex?
M: I haven’t had too many wild places.
AF: In a public place? Outside?
M: Not in a public place.
AF: You have to work on that. Like in a restaurant or a public bathroom?
M: In my personal life I did it all over the place in one night. In the laundry room, on the kitchen counter, outside on the porch, on the bed. It was kind of crazy.
AF: What had you taken? Aphrodisiacs, right?
M: (Laughs) It was a Halloween night with a full moon.
AF: Ahhh, that’s why. If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go?
M: I’d like to go somewhere tropical like Brazil and see the rain forest. I would like to go to Africa because I love animals and would like to go on a safari somewhere.
AF: That is what I would like to also. Except they have a new park at Disney that is an African lodge, where you can look out and see giraffes and rhinoceruses, and you can go on a safari to see real animals, but it’s safe. It’s a safe safari! I want to go there! Speaking of nature, are you all natural?
M: Yes.
AF: Would you ever get a boob job?
M: I talk about it, not to make me bigger, but so I could not wear a bra and they would be perky and sit up there all the time.
AF: Yeah but your fans would protest.
M: I know, I know. That’s not in the future for me unless I have five kids and my boobs are down to my knees. Right now, no I am not going to do it. Hustler likes natural breasts.
AF: That’s good, we like them just the way they are. Do you have an unfulfilled fantasy?
M: I’ve always said I want to have sex on a plane. I think that would be hot.
AF: Well that wouldn’t be too hard to do.
M: I want to take Larry’s plane and have sex on it.
AF: Okay we will put this in the interview, because I heard that he read Shy’s (Love) interview. So we want him to read this interview and let us take his plane, and you can have a sex scene that they can film, and I’ll take stills because I want to go too!
M:That would be good. It would make a good movie. We’ll call it Memphis, Flying High.
AF: How about Flying High in Memphis!
M: That’s good. Memphis is a fun name you can play it up so much.
AF: Did you use it because of the town?
M: No. Memphis is a southern name; that is part of the reason I picked it. But the main reason is in the movie “Gone in 60 Seconds” Nicholas Cage’s character is named Memphis Rain. I thought it was a really cool name but I didn’t want to take the whole thing. I love Marilyn Monroe so I just put the two of them together.
AF: What is the best and the worst things about being an X-rated star?
M: The best thing is getting to meet my fans. To me that is the ultimate payoff. No matter how much money I make, when I see my fans and I see that they really appreciate my work, that is better then anything. The only thing I hate about the business is being gone from home so much. That takes a toll on me. And also people talk a lot in the business. Even though it is a large business it is like a small family. And as soon as something gets out everybody knows about it.
AF: Oh yeah. There are lots of great people, but lots of gossip too. What do you do for fun?
M: I go out with my friends to clubs. Or I stay at home and sit on the couch, I am a couch potato and watch my reality shows.
AF: Me too! Do you watch Big Brother?
M: Yes. I also watch the MTV ones. Supernova, I ‘ve been watching that.
AF: I’ve seen that. lt’s the one where they are picking a new singer. Who do you want to win Big Brother?
M: I don’t want any of the guys to win, they are all backstabbing. I want the pretty brunette to win, what is her name?
AF: Erica.
M: She needs to win. I hope she will wake up and realize they are playing her.
(After I talked to Memphis, Big Brother was on that night, and Erica did figure things out and kicked out one of the guys that was playing her, YES!)
AF: Are you doing feature dancing?
M: Not yet. But I am going to start sometime before Christmas. I want to go on a tour.
AF: It would be really cool if you got some holiday costumes and went on a winter tour and signed and sold “Christmas in Memphis” while you were on the road. And of course we want you to come to South Florida.
M: I’ve been talking to Suzanne (LFP’s talent Coordinator) about putting a tour together.
AF: She’s really nice. Do you have natural disasters in Kentucky?
M: We have some tornados, but that is pretty much it. We are built on a fault line so hopefully there won’t be any earthquakes.
AF: I would never think of an earthquake in Kentucky, unless of course you are there having so much sex all over you are rocking the whole neighborhood.
M: (Laughs) It’s been cold here lately. I just made a big ole pot of chicken noodle soup and cuddled up on the couch and watched TV thinking this sucks.
AF: Me too. It’s been rainy and gray for about 5 days straight now. We usually see the sun everyday, even if it is just for a little while, but not lately. It is depressing. If you would bring me some soup, we can lay on the couch with a ton of blankets and watch movies. When it’s like this I just want to lay around and do nothing.
M: I like to lay around and watch movies too.
AF: Mainstream movies or porn movies?
M: Mainstream.
AF: What good mainstream movies have you seen lately?
M: “Poseidon”, has really good special effects.
AF: It’s funny, I saw the original “Poseidon Adventure” about twenty times when I was a little kid because it was at the dollar theater. And that one had no special effects. Did you see “V for Vendetta”? That was really good.
M: Yeah, at first I thought it was really weird, but then I got into it. Anytime I watch a movie late at night and I actually stay up and watch the whole thing, you know it’s pretty good. My favorite movie right now is “The Breakup” with Jennifer Aniston. You have to see that. It was the funniest movie. I was in my hotel room crying because I was laughing so hard. It was great. I like funny or scary.
AF: What about porn?
M: I don’t watch too much porn unless I am critiquing myself. I remember the first time I watched one, it was one of my very first scenes and I was like, please don’t say “oh yeah”, anymore. Because it was like “oh yeah, oh yeah, oh yeah.” I was saying it over and over. This has to be annoying. If I was watching this I would skip to the next scene it was so bad. So I made mental notes what to do and not to do. I don’t watch too many. I just watched the first one and now I’ve watched my last one Backwoods in Memphis.
AF: We are using some pictures from that one in the layout. The ones where you are standing in front of a fence by a horse. So is your website MemphisMonroe.com?
M: What is up there right now was my old website that I was putting together, so it’s not finished because Hustler has built me a great one and it is going to be put up there soon.
AF: What you have there now is nice, it’s just not very much yet.
M: The one that Hustler built is really nice I am just waiting for them to put it up.
AF: Well tell them to hurry up! Do you have a message for your fans?
M: Thank you for all the support. Please keep on buying my movies and e-mail me if you have any questions or comments. I love hearing from my fans.
AF: How can they get in touch with you?
M: A lot of my fans e-mail me on myspace.com.
AF: And they should join that of course.
M: Yes and they can have my personal e-mail also its MemphisMonroeXXX@yahoo.com.
